How to Opt Out of Spokeo
Spokeo requires the URL of each profile you want removed and an email address for confirmation. Each listing with a unique URL must be submitted separately.
Start with the official site
This link goes directly to the current first-party request path. Criminal.com does not receive the information you submit there.
Open Spokeo's official opt-out form →What to have ready
- The complete Spokeo profile URL for each listing that belongs to you.
- An email address you can open to complete the confirmation step.
- A list of every separate Spokeo result you found, because each unique profile URL requires its own request.
Steps
- Search Spokeo and open the profile that corresponds to you.
- Copy the complete profile URL. Do not use a checkout or payment URL in place of the profile URL.
- Open Spokeo's official opt-out form, paste the profile URL, and enter your email address.
- Submit the form, open Spokeo's confirmation email, and select the confirmation link.
- Repeat the process for every other listing with a different profile URL.
Verify the result and follow up
- Spokeo says a properly submitted request should be processed in 24 to 48 hours, depending on the request and amount of data. That is Spokeo's estimate, not a guarantee from Criminal.com.
- Search again for each submitted profile after that window.
- If a profile remains, use Spokeo's customer-care page or email privacy@spokeo.com with the profile URL.
What this request does not do
- Spokeo says an opt-out does not remove information from its original source or from other websites.
- New or updated source records can cause a listing to reappear. Spokeo recommends checking for additional listings.
- Court-record display is treated separately. Spokeo's policy says it requires an expunction or sealing order and accepts those orders at expungement@spokeo.com.
- Spokeo's public-listing tool is different from a request concerning information in a paid account.
